After enrolling in the University of Alberta with the intention of working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, she had what she fondly calls her “Quarter Life Crisis,” and realized she did not want to pursue the performing arts after all. It was her mother who put forth the idea of Veterinary Medicine, a career path that could combine Kirklin’s love of animals with her keen interest in the Biological Sciences.
