His first film was $10 Raise (1935) starring Edward Everett Horton, which launched Benedict on a busy career. The blond-haired Benedict almost always played juvenile roles, such as newsboys, messengers, office boys, and farmhands.\n\nIn 1939, when Universal Pictures began its Little Tough Guys series to compete with the popular Dead End Kids features, Billy Benedict was recruited into the cast. These films led him into the similar East Side Kids movies (usually playing a member of the East Side gang, but occasionally in villainous roles). The East Side Kids became The Bowery Boys in 1946, and Benedict stayed with the series (as \"Whitey\") through the end of 1951.\n\nOther films included My Little Chickadee (1940) starring W. C. Fields and Mae West, The Ox-Bow Incident (1943), Ed Wood's Bride of the Monster (1955), The Sting (1973) and Farewell, My Lovely (1975). Benedict never shook his juvenile image completely, and continued to play messengers and news vendors well into his sixties. He also worked often in television commercials.","1917-04-16","1999-11-25",2,null,1263061,"nm0070827","Acting","William Benedict","Haskell, Oklahoma, USA",0.9625,"\u002FlSqQnBkKiS72DXaoEES3y4LaPBV.jpg",{"cast":22,"crew":2755},[23,41,56,70,85,99,113,126,138,149,161,175,188,200,212,223,235,246,258,270,282,296,309,321,333,345,357,368,381,393,402,414,425,438,449,460,471,482,493,505,516,528,540,552,563,575,587,597,609,620,631,642,652,664,676,687,698,710,720,731,743,753,764,775,785,795,806,816,830,840,852,865,876,886,895,905,915,928,938,948,959,970,981,991,1001,1012,1023,1035,1046,1058,1070,1082,1092,1102,1112,1124,1134,1144,1155,1166,1177,1188,1199,1211,1221,1232,1244,1254,1265,1275,1285,1296,1307,1317,1328,1338,1350,1360,1373,1383,1393,1403,1413,1423,1434,1446,1456,1466,1476,1487,1497,1507,1519,1530,1541,1552,1563,1575,1586,1597,1608,1619,1629,1639,1650,1661,1671,1682,1693,1704,1715,1726,1736,1747,1758,1768,1779,1789,1800,1812,1823,1835,1846,1857,1868,1878,1890,1901,1913,1923,1934,1945,1955,1966,1977,1988,1999,2011,2021,2031,2042,2052,2063,2074,2084,2093,2104,2119,2133,2149,2162,2177,2190,2203,2216,2229,2242,2255,2269,2284,2297,2311,2323,2337,2351,2365,2379,2394,2408,2421,2431,2444,2457,2470,2482,2494,2506,2518,2531,2543,2557,2568,2581,2594,2608,2620,2626,2640,2653,2666,2679,2684,2696,2710,2723,2728,2734,2747],{"adult":4,"backdrop_path":24,"genre_ids":25,"id":28,"title":29,"original_language":30,"original_title":29,"overview":31,"popularity":32,"poster_path":33,"release_date":34,"softcore":4,"video":4,"vote_average":35,"vote_count":36,"character":37,"credit_id":38,"order":39,"media_type":40},"\u002FfzJgCQh2NBnUYlms8EGyr4bPNz3.jpg",[26,27],35,10749,900,"Bringing Up Baby","en","David Huxley is waiting to get a bone he needs for his museum collection.
