He was nicknamed \"The Big Swede\" and was sometimes credited as \"Emery\" or \"Parnel\".\n\nSeeking better opportunities in Hollywood, Parnell and his wife moved to Los Angeles, California, where, helped by his red-faced Irish look of frustration, he immediately began to appear in films in a variety of role, such as policemen, doormen, landlords, and small town businessmen. One of his first films was Doctor Rhythm (1938).\n\nAlthough his appearances were often in \"B\" films, such as the Ma and Pa Kettle series, he also made credible showings in \"A\" films as well. One notable part was as a Paramount studio executive who sang about avoiding libel suits to open 1941's Louisiana Purchase. Parnell was also part of writer-director Preston Sturges' unofficial \"stock company\" of character actors in the 1940s, appearing in five of Sturges' films, including The Miracle of Morgan's Creek, where he played the crooked banker, \"Mr. Tuerck\", the chief antagonist of William Demarest's \"Constable Kockenlocker\". He also made a memorable appearance as grumpy socialite Ajax Bullion in the Three Stooges short subject All the World's a Stooge.","1892-12-28","1979-06-22",2,null,124875,"nm0663183","Acting","Emory Parnell","Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA",1.1338,"\u002FeI6HoBY4IK8NP1k9gJKicLhIekv.jpg",{"cast":23,"crew":2933},[24,42,56,71,85,98,111,126,140,151,164,177,188,202,213,225,238,250,263,274,286,299,311,323,335,346,359,371,385,397,408,419,431,443,454,467,480,492,503,514,527,538,550,559,571,582,593,607,618,629,640,651,662,673,684,694,706,717,731,743,756,767,778,790,801,812,823,834,845,858,872,884,895,908,918,929,933,945,955,967,980,991,1002,1013,1024,1036,1047,1059,1071,1084,1095,1107,1118,1128,1142,1153,1165,1175,1187,1199,1209,1221,1232,1243,1254,1268,1279,1292,1303,1314,1325,1335,1347,1358,1368,1380,1391,1402,1413,1422,1433,1444,1455,1466,1477,1488,1501,1511,1522,1532,1543,1556,1567,1578,1589,1600,1612,1623,1635,1646,1657,1668,1679,1691,1703,1714,1726,1737,1748,1760,1770,1781,1792,1805,1815,1826,1836,1846,1856,1867,1878,1890,1901,1913,1925,1937,1947,1955,1966,1975,1986,1996,2007,2019,2032,2041,2051,2061,2072,2084,2095,2106,2117,2129,2141,2152,2161,2172,2183,2193,2202,2210,2219,2230,2242,2253,2264,2276,2286,2297,2307,2316,2324,2335,2346,2358,2369,2379,2390,2400,2409,2420,2437,2450,2464,2477,2492,2506,2519,2531,2542,2554,2567,2579,2592,2603,2615,2621,2633,2645,2651,2665,2677,2690,2705,2718,2724,2730,2736,2742,2755,2761,2773,2781,2794,2799,2805,2817,2830,2836,2850,2856,2861,2873,2886,2892,2898,2909,2920],{"adult":4,"backdrop_path":25,"genre_ids":26,"id":29,"title":30,"original_language":31,"original_title":30,"overview":32,"popularity":33,"poster_path":34,"release_date":35,"softcore":4,"video":4,"vote_average":36,"vote_count":37,"character":38,"credit_id":39,"order":40,"media_type":41},"\u002FzloClSp8tYddMZOQbonlcUhlqJk.jpg",[27,28],10751,35,292498,"Confidentially Connie","en","Texas cattleman Opie Bedloe comes to Maine to visit his son Joe, a college instructor, and his wife Connie in the hopes of persuading Joe to give up his teaching career and come back to Texas and take over the ranch.
