Her first role in George Pearson's Nothing Else Matters (1920) was opposite Betty Balfour, who was also making her debut, and the film was a success. Over the next several years, Poulton was cast in a succession of roles, and usually played feisty or mischievous characters. A petite blonde, she also became well regarded for her fashion style, and was a highly recognisable celebrity. In 1928, she starred in The Constant Nymph by Adrian Brunel and received excellent reviews for her performance.[4] By the end of the decade she was considered to be one of Britain's leading screen actresses along with Balfour, and was described by critics as Balfour's only serious rival.\n\nHowever the advent of sound film brought a premature end to Poulton's film career.","1901-07-29","1994-12-21",1,null,1012170,"nm0693744","Acting","Mabel Poulton","Bethnal Green, London, England, UK",0.6626,"\u002FAjF5uVj1KEcJGDdijARTugDdtb4.jpg",{"cast":20,"crew":209},[21,37,47,59,75,85,99,111,121,133,146,156,166,179,189,198],{"adult":4,"backdrop_path":22,"genre_ids":23,"id":26,"title":27,"original_language":28,"original_title":27,"overview":29,"popularity":30,"poster_path":31,"release_date":32,"softcore":4,"video":4,"vote_average":33,"vote_count":10,"character":34,"credit_id":35,"order":10,"media_type":36},"\u002F1WljwJaK5PpwKmbyfTUhprWjfwN.jpg",[24,25],18,10749,97115,"The Constant Nymph","en","Sanger, an eccentric expatriate composer, dies in his house in the Austrian Alps, leaving his daughters penniless.
