Toews is also a three-time finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and a two-time winner of the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize.\n\nIn 2007 she made her screen debut in the film Silent Light (Stellet Licht), directed by Carlos Reygadas, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
